In October the CRN drove to Young Harris and had lunch at Crossroads Restaurant.  Afterwards, Chuck Crisp drove us into North Carolina to look at the fall leaves.  Our last stop was at Wayah Bald and we had a wonderful view of the mountains.  We had to walk from the van about 50 or 60 yards to the top, and these were the hardy hikers who took that walk.  It was a great trip!

The CRN during October traveled by church vans to the Crossroads Restaurant between Hiawassee and Young Harris.  We had a very nice lunch and then Chuck Crisp led the drive to Hayesville, NC.  From there we traveled on Hwy 64 east to Franklin, NC.  That is a spectacular drive to see fall colors.  We had light rain part of the way and the sky was overcast, but that seemed to make the colors in the trees stand out.  We appreciate Bill Hibner and Chuck Crisp, who were our drivers on this trip.

This is a picture of some of our CRN members taken on our trip to Cades Cove in September.  We are in front of an old Methodist Church on the grounds of Cades Cove.  We left the Family Life Center at 8:30 a.m. and drove past Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge, TN, where we stopped for lunch at The Old Mill Restaurant.  The food was plentiful and good!  From there we drove to Cades Cove and stopped at this old church building.  While we were there, a woman from another group played the piano inside.  There was just a touch of color in the trees along the way.  We arrived back at the FLC around 6:00 p.m.  Everyone enjoyed the trip and look forward to our next one.  We especially appreciate and thank the drivers of the two vans - Chuck Crisp and Gene Nolte

The CRN trip to Mt. Mitchell on June 21.  The weather was great and we all enjoyed being together.  We had lunch at the Cracker Barrel in West Asheville and it was good, as usual.  The scenes on the Blue Ridge Parkway were awesome - looking down into the valleys.  We saw some beautiful flame azaleas, lavender rhododendrons, and a few mountain laurel still in bloom.

This is a group picture of the CRN (Can't Remember Nothing) group who traveled to the Hamilton Gardens at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee on April 19th.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the outing.  Most of the azaleas had been damaged by the recent freezing weather like those around here.  One rhododendron was in full bloom, but most of the others were still in tight buds.  They should be beautiful in a week or so.  After walking through the gardens we drove to The Barn Door Restaurant between Hiawassee and Young Harris - just before you get to Brasstown Valley.  The food was good and our waitress was very attentive.  We always enjoy our time of fellowship together.
