Dr. Charlie Green assumed the duties of pastor of Clayton First United Methodist Church on June 24, 2010.

Charlie and his wife, Phyllis, come to us after serving the Cornelia UMC for the past four years. They have two sons, Benjamin Duane and Christopher Todd. And they are proud grandparents of two grandsons! Phyllis retired from Delta Airlines last year.

Charlie is a graduate of Morehead State University, the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and the George Fox Evangelical Seminary. Before accepting his call to ministry, he worked as a school teacher, sales manager, and small business owner.

His past appointments include Pleasant Valley UMC in Monroe, Hopewell UMC in Gainesville, Union UMC in Stockbridge, Hampton UMC, Lithia Springs UMC and Cornelia UMC.

He especially enjoys preaching, leading Bible studies (especially Disciple), and dealing with God’s people one on one and in small groups. He has been very active in the Emmaus Movement, serving as Community Spiritual Director for the Foothills Community.
